Record 1,000 entries for Samarahan-<b>Kuching</b> swim meet <b>...</b>

KUCHING: The fifth Samarahan-Kuching Divisions Interschool Swimming Championship will see swimmers competing for the Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah trophies at the Aquatic Centre of Excellence here from Aug 15-16.

In competition over the two days from 8am to 5pm, SMK Batu Lintang will be defending their unbeaten record as the champion secondary school while SK Chung Hua 4 1/2 Mile will be out to maintain their position as primary school champion.

Strong competition is expected from SMK Kuching High, St Joseph's Private School, Lodge School, Tunku Putra School and SJK Chung Hua No 2.

A total of 108 events will be contested, an increase from the 94 events in 2014, including the much-anticipated interschool relays as well as the newly added 200 metre Individual Medley for Groups D and E.

Kota Samarahan Amateur Swimming Association (KOTAS) president Yii Chee Sing said that they were anticipating competitive

racing with record participation.

"We have a 15 per cent increase in individual entries, with 1,097 entries from over 250 swimmers.This is a sign of the growing interest in swimming.

"This meet has been made possible with the hard work of the KOTAS parents and generous support of local businesses for which we are very grateful," Yii commented.

The order of events for the Fifth Samarahan-Kuching Divisions Interschool Swimming Championship can be viewed at www.kotasswimming.com and event books will be on sale at the venue for only RM6.
