Kuching Food Festival 2014 a Popular Yearly Event | Borneo ... Posted: 25 Aug 2014 08:07 PM PDT This year's Kuching Food Festival 2014 was exciting with a total of 220 food stalls selling a great variety of food and also to celebrate the city's 25th anniversary. The event ran from 1st to 24th August 2014. Here is a list of their schedule taken from here: Kuching Food Festival Performance Schedule
As you can see from the schedule above, various cultural dance performance and nightly entertainment had been arranged for the public. It was also a way to involve the public to join these activities, hence indirectly fostering closer relationships among the community members. The main attraction we would say would be the food stalls selling a great variety of food from ethnic to Chinese to Western food. As there were 220 food stalls there, naturally the food stalls would be competing with each other to get more sales. What used to be very popular last year may not be so this year, as the public taste changes with time. A very popular snack last year was the durian king puffs. (Musang King) This year, many people were seen queuing up for the ice cream in pot. There were 2 stalls selling this unique ice cream. One stall used a larger pot to fill the ice cream for RM6 a pot. Another stall sells a smaller pot for RM3 each. Actually, it is just a normal King's ice cream, where the top layer is sprinkled with crushed oreo and a mint leaf. Many people thought the presentation was unique and fell for it. Many stalls were seen selling fried food. Fried food seems to be the favourite for everyone here. A fun fair was also set up at the other end for children to pay on the merry go round, train ride, flying boat etc. Kuching Food Festival is an annual event and is a great event to showcase Sarawak especially in this Visit Sarawak Year 2014. If you are here in Kuching during this period, what you will look forward to especially, would be the many variety of food on sale there. So, if you love food, the best time to visit Kuching would be during this period, as it is also the fruiting season where many varieties of fruits are available in the market ranging from durian to rambutan and even dabai. The woman had earlier walked on the road, in the left most lane fully clothed. However it was learnt that later on, she took off her top and sat down by the roadside, and began chanting. The Rakyat Post's photographer who was at the scene of the incident earlier reported that police were present to manage the situation. However it is unclear if the woman has been detained as at press time, or what prompted her to take off her clothes.
