Assalamualaikum.

Finally I had a chance to leave my footprints on the southern part of Borneo Island.

I went to Kuching on the 5th until 7th of April due to work matter. However, that doesn't stop one to have a little getaway and explore the city.

It's a very beautiful town. We stayed in Grand Margherita Hotel, near to Waterfront. I'm really satisfied with the services where the local people are very friendly and not to forget the uncle taxi driver that gave us the best guides.

We went to Petra Jaya by boat to get the Kuih Lapis, Kubah Ria Market, some souvenirs shop within our walking distance, taking a walk along the Sungai Sarawak and City One Mall and Merdeka Plaza for some shopping spree.

Scroll some pictures from the short visit.

So do visit Kuching. It's an amazing place. Well, Borneo Island should be in your going-places list.

I write again soon.

Bai.

KUCHING: Junior paddlers from the Kuching Division Table Tennis Association continued to shine at the Malaysian Schools Sports Council table tennis championship held in SJK(C) Tsun Jin, Kuala Lumpur recently.

They helped the state contingent to capture five gold, three silver and six bronze medals to clinch the overall championship crown against 15 other teams.

Kuching contributed four of the five gold through the boy's individual and team events while playing a major part in securing the Girl's U12 team gold.

Kuching's Too Ying Chuen (CHPS No. 2), Louis Chung Kian Fu (CHPS No. 4), Joel Chen Yu Chen (CHPS No. 2), Christopher Isaac Goh-Kho Hian Hui (CHPS No. 3) and Alan Teo Kie (CHPS Batu 35, Samarahan) emerged champions in the Boy's U12 team event.

Ying Chuen bagged the Boy's U12 singles gold and partnered Louis Chung to win the doubles gold.

The champion Girls U12 team comprised Sammi Tay (SJK (C) Tapang), Tay Lynn Jia (CHPS No. 2) and Chong Chiung (CHPS No. 3) from Kuching, Karen Lyne Dick and Fion Soh Jia Xi of Sibu.

Sammi Tay and Tay Lynn Chia combined to capture the Girl's U12 doubles gold.

Meanwhile, Kuching's pair of Jason Siau Ting Shen (SMK Kuching High) and Clement Sim Kwang Zhi (SM Lodge) finished runners-up in the Boy's U18 doubles and were part of the silver medal winning team in the team event.

Other medallists from Kuching include Kylie Teo Liyi (SMK Green Road) who was a member of the Girl's U18 team that won the bronze, Joel Chen who partnered Alan Teo Ji to bag bronze in Boy's U12 doubles, Christopher Isaac Goh-Kho Hian Hui (CHPS No. 3) in the Boy's U12 singles and Tay Lynn Jia in the Girl's U12 singles.

Kuching Division Table Tennis Association chairperson Helena Christine Wee said she was pleased with the performances of Kuching paddlers.

"We feel proud and happy for being able to contribute the major part in capturing the gold medals and the overall championship title for the state," she told The Borneo Post.

"The Boy's U12 team deserved to win because they have trained very hard for the competition. Hopefully, our players can also do well in the 27th Malaysia Milo Hopes Table Tennis Championship to be held in Melaka from December 1 to 4."

Wee was also pleased to note that Too Ying Chuen has been listed for selection to the national team to compete in the Asean Schools Games later this year.
