ROUTES ASIA: Video Highlights from Kuching

This year's Routes Asia took place under the shadow of what has become the largest aviation search and rescue mission ever as more than 25 countries combined their resources in the continued search for Malaysia Airlines MH370, the Boeing 777-200ER that went missing not long after take-off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport bound for Beijing on March 8, 2014.  As we closed for press there was no more news on the search for the aircraft and our thoughts and prayers remain for the passengers and crew on Flight MH370, their families and friends and everbody in the aviation community impacted by the incident.

It is too early to say what impact the three days of networking in Kuching will have, but if a conservative one per cent of the 1,400 pre-scheduled meetings results in new services, that will bring more almost 15 new route pairs and a significant boost to origin and destination economies (with meetings arranged through the Extra Meetings System at the event the total number of meetings taking place would have doubled).  In fact our own informal discussions with airline and airport delegates during the event suggest that one or two new routes are already really close to being agreed.

We have tried to squeeze three days of business and networking into just three minutes in our special event highlights package below:
