MIRI: Sarawak Children's Cancer Society's 'Colour Rush 2.0' will be held in Kuching and Miri next month.

The first edition of this successful run, which was held in collaboration with OurYouth.my, was held in Kuching last year.

Organising committee (Miri) chairperson Jocelyn Hee said she believed the Miri edition would be as wildly successful as the one in Kuching last year.

The Kuching run would be held at Le'Park Kuching this coming Feb 15, and at Miri Civic Centre on Feb 23.

Hee told a press conference at Somerset Hotel here yesterday that the run was open to everyone interested.

To fuel excitement in the run-up to the run, she said her organising committee would be setting up a registration booth at Bintang Megamall.

The objectives of the run are to raise awareness of childhood cancer in Sarawak, to encourage the public to participate in a fun-filled event for a meaningful cause, and to encourage the younger generation to demonstrate more understanding and empathy towards children with cancer.

Hee said 5km Colour Rush is the first and only colour run in the state.

Before starting the run, participants would splash one another with two 'fistful' packs of coloured powder provided by the organiser.

"The run starts when everyone is covered head-to-toe in various colours."

Hee said her organising committee hoped sponsorship would start rolling in to help children with cancer.

The registration fee for the run is RM35. Forms can be obtained and submitted to Somerset Hotel at No.12 Kwang Tung Road. Registration can also be made through SCCS's website www.colourrushrun.com.For further information on the run in Miri, call Hee at 019-8841161 or email to chia@sccs.org.my.
