KUCHING: The first bicycle expo in Kuching is to be held at Riverside shopping complex tomorrow (May 31).

Riverside Bikexpo 2014 is free and open to people of all ages.

"We are excited that all major bicycle shops and various cycle community are supporting this event," said general manager of Urusharta Sdn Bhd Alan Poh at a press conference here yesterday.

As a bicycle enthusiast himself, he felt that the cycling community in Kuching was growing and it was about time they had an expo like this to encourage non-cyclists to start.

It is also a good opportunity for existing cyclists and collectors to have the big names and cycling clubs all under one roof, he said.

The exhibitors for the expo include 2nd Bike Shop by Khairuzie Bolhassan Trading, AJ Bikes, Giant Kuching, Kuching Cycle Hub, Revolution Run, Thong Sen Cycle and Kuching Cops Cyclist Club (KCCC).

The Riverside Bikexpo 2014 aims to promote cycling as a healthy sport and recreational activity for families, children and individuals.

The expo is open to the public from 10am to 6pm. It will be a meeting point for bicycle enthusiasts and interested individuals as it will be the host to major cycling shops and the cycling community in Kuching.

Before reaching the Batu Kuching, you will pass by this Turtle Beach. This is the beach where every year the turtles will land and lay their eggs. Unable to estimate the correct date so it is really depends on your luck. However, if you are travelling on the month of June, July and August to this island. Do try your luck! There are volunteers camping on this side of beach between May to October to protect the turtles from poachers.
